Painter / Provincetown, Boston, New York
Biography and practice overview.
Biography
Tadhg Slater is an American painter working between Provincetown, Boston, and New York. His practice is rooted in traditional materials, including linen, rabbit skin glue, marble dust gesso, and lead white, brought forward into a contemporary studio process.
The work is physical and layered, built through deliberate accumulation. In winter, he works from an unheated, windowless concrete bunker on the beach in Provincetown, where modern materials enter the process in direct response to the conditions. A parallel body of pop-oriented work operates in a more immediate, experimental register.
Slater holds an MFA. He has been awarded the Dune Shack Residency in Provincetown and the Château d'Orquevaux Artist Residency in Champagne-Ardenne, France (2026).
He works directly with collectors, with the studio as the primary site of exchange.
