Artist Statement
The work comes out of an unheated studio on the Provincetown waterfront, and out of a dune shack with no electricity and no piano.
The Concrete Winter paintings were made through the 2025 – 2026 winter inside a cold, unheated studio on the Provincetown harbor. No gallery framing; no sales floor; the cold, the wind, and the harbor light were as much a part of the process as the brush. Then, in May 2026, a residency at the Dune Shack on the outer Cape: six days of total silence, the conditions stripped further, and the same refusal to limit the form. The paintings and the libretto share the same origin.
Provincetown is the home of the studio each summer. Publications are welcome to schedule studio visits during the season; high-res images, the studio letter, and detailed CV are available on request through the form below.
